Ahead of another round of trade talks next month, China's lifting import tariffs on more than a dozen U.S. products.

The short list of goods includes pesticides, cancer drugs and food for livestock. According to China's Foreign Ministry, the tariff exemptions will take effect on Sept. 17 and last for one year.

Additionally, China said importers can apply for a refund on tariffs that were already imposed on 12 of the 16 products.

One analyst said the tariff exemptions are more likely "a means of supporting the economy" than "a gesture of sincerity towards the U.S."

China and the U.S. have slapped tariffs on hundreds of billions of dollars of each other's goods since their trade dispute started.

And while the two sides have been trying to work out a deal for more than a year, it's unclear if they'll reach a consensus anytime soon. President Trump's already said he intends to boost tariffs currently placed on $250 billion worth of Chinese goods from 25% to 30% on Oct. 1.
